1200A School Solar Interconnection Upgrade
BD reconfigured an elementary school’s service entrance to accommodate a new commercial solar canopy interconnection.
The Challenge
Existing utility secondary conductors needed to be intercepted and rerouted through new equipment. The work required coordination among the utility, solar contractor, and school administration.
BD’s Scope of Work
- New 1200A utility service disconnect
- Utility CT cabinet and service splice cabinet
- Dedicated 1200A PV disconnect and PV CT cabinet
- Secondary conductor rerouting and service raceways
- Utility coordination and commissioning
The Result
The upgraded service entrance provides an interconnection point for the solar canopy while continuing to supply the school’s existing distribution system. The project combines conventional service work with commercial PV integration.
