Commercial Electrical Construction in Massachusetts
Electrical installations for new spaces, renovations, and equipment additions. BD Electrical & Solar works with owners, general contractors, and engineering teams to turn construction documents into coordinated field work.
Build the electrical scope into the construction plan.
A facility fit-out involves more than adding circuits. Equipment locations, ceiling layouts, mechanical systems, access, and construction sequencing all affect the installation. We review these interfaces early so the electrical work supports the way the space will operate.
Our scope
What we plan and install
Facility fit-outs & renovations
Branch circuits, receptacles, lighting, and electrical installations for commercial and research spaces. We coordinate routing and equipment placement with the other trades.
Equipment & mechanical connections
Power connections for specified equipment, HVAC, and building systems. Nameplate information, disconnect requirements, controls responsibilities, and startup needs define the scope.
Lighting & site infrastructure
Interior and exterior lighting, controls, raceways, and underground electrical work. Access, mounting, restoration, and site conditions are addressed in the construction plan.
Electrical construction in practice
Our DunkWorks research facility project in Woods Hole demonstrates electrical infrastructure for an advanced engineering and manufacturing environment. Each project starts with its own equipment, operating needs, and construction requirements.
From assessment to installation
Define the work
Share drawings, specifications, the equipment list, bid requirements, and schedule. We clarify inclusions, exclusions, and the responsibilities of each trade.
Coordinate the installation
Review routing, access, material lead times, inspections, and planned shutdowns. Changes to equipment or layouts are addressed before they become field conflicts.
Complete the handoff
Coordinate testing, inspections, circuit identification, and the agreed closeout documentation so the owner can operate and maintain the installation.
Planning questions
Can you work from our engineer’s drawings?
Yes. Send the current plans, specifications, addenda, and schedule. We review the electrical scope and identify items that need clarification before pricing or construction.
Can construction take place in an occupied building?
Work can be planned around operating areas, access restrictions, and scheduled interruptions. The approach depends on the site; required shutdowns must be agreed in advance.
Does this include a service upgrade?
Service capacity and distribution upgrades are evaluated separately within the project scope. New loads may require additional engineering or utility coordination.
