Commercial Service & Power Distribution in Massachusetts

Plan the electrical capacity behind new equipment, expanded operations, and electrification. BD Electrical & Solar installs and upgrades commercial distribution infrastructure with engineering and utility coordination as required.

Start with the loads. Build the distribution around them.

An equipment addition can affect more than the nearest panel. Existing service capacity, feeder routes, equipment ratings, protective devices, and available space all need review. We help define the installation scope and coordinate the engineering questions before equipment is ordered.

Our scope

What we plan and install

Service & switchgear upgrades

Service equipment, switchboards, and related infrastructure for increased facility demand. Utility requirements, equipment lead times, and the cutover plan shape the project.

Panels, feeders & transformers

Distribution panels, feeder raceways and conductors, transformer connections, grounding, and bonding. Work is coordinated with the approved design and actual site conditions.

Capacity for future systems

Plan distribution for mechanical equipment, EV charging, solar, or storage. Phasing and spare capacity are considered alongside current loads and budget.

800A laboratory distribution upgrade

At a Massachusetts research facility, BD installed an 800A, 480V three-phase distribution subpanel, including feeder conduit, conductors, terminations, grounding, labeling, and testing. The project coordinated new distribution with an occupied laboratory renovation.

1200A school service interconnection

Our 1200A school solar interconnection upgrade shows service-entrance work for a commercial solar canopy, including utility and PV disconnects, CT cabinets, conductor rerouting, and utility coordination.

From assessment to installation

01

Assess the existing system

Collect service information, one-line diagrams, equipment loads, available studies, and site photos. Field investigation identifies access and routing constraints.

02

Resolve the design & cutover

Coordinate engineering, utility requirements, equipment selections, permits, and shutdown sequencing. Required studies and responsibilities are defined in the proposal.

03

Install & verify

Complete the agreed installation, inspections, testing, identification, and handoff. Energization is coordinated with the facility and utility where applicable.

Planning questions

Do new loads always require a larger utility service?

Not always. A load assessment and engineering review help determine whether existing capacity, load management, or a service upgrade is appropriate.

Can you replace equipment without interrupting operations?

Some tasks can be completed while a facility operates, but tie-ins and cutovers may require outages. We plan interruptions with the owner; uninterrupted service is not assumed.

What affects the schedule?

Engineering decisions, utility review, switchgear availability, permits, access, and shutdown windows. Early equipment and utility coordination are especially important.
