WHOI Welding Shop LED Lighting Retrofit
BD replaced aging high-bay lighting in the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution welding shop with commercial LED fixtures.
The Challenge
The active fabrication space needed more uniform illumination without unnecessary disruption. Fixture selection and layout had to suit the ceiling height and the shop’s demanding working environment.
BD’s Scope of Work
- Removal of existing high-bay fixtures
- Commercial LED high-bay installation
- Electrical modifications and rewiring
- Fixture aiming and layout optimization
- Testing and commissioning
The Result
The completed retrofit provides brighter, more even lighting over the fabrication workstations with instant-on operation. The new fixtures also reduce the maintenance burden associated with the aging lighting system.
